I thought most NetMeeting users (at least the unhappy ones) might like a source of information on alternative products. I am not an experienced user of any of these products, so the information will be without a lot of detail.

I have lately bumped into this site which has a long list of video conferencing clients that maybe of interest to NetMeeting users.

Be sure to have a look at focusfocus, TeamView - multiparty audio/video products.

Windows Messenger (for XP only) has most of the features of NetMeeting.

Internet Comm Suite

The Internet Comm Suite from SmithMicro is an H.323 video phone product that is to some degree compatible with NetMeeting -- though in my tests they did not always connect or interoperate correctly ( this may be a NetMeeting problem though). I am continuing tests

The product has a pleasant graphic appearance (unlike the hard computer interface of NetMeeting) and has a number of features that I wish NetMeeting had ( like an answering machine, a ""Hold" button. It has its own ILS like server but can use the Microsoft ILS servers.

It is available on a 14 day trial download, and can be purchase  - list price $69.95.

Intel Video Phone

Intel Video Phone is H.323 videophone software from Intel. I have tried to download and get this software working without much success but that may have been a configuration specific problem with my set-up.

A demo version can be downloaded. The full featured version is only available with Intel Create and Share Cameras, listed at $129 for USB version and $174 for PCI version.

iVisit

iVisit is a MAC and PC compatible video conferencing product allowing multiparty audio and video. I haven't actually tried the product but a number of people have reported positive results.

"iVisit is the brainchild of Tim Dorcey, the former Cornell University technology developer whom the Wall Street Journal credited with giving the Internet its eyes and ears."

Ivisit may be downloaded at the iVisit site.

CU-seeMe

CU-seeMe is the "original" developed at Cornell, now owned and sold by White Pine. White Pine has also developed the MeetingPoint MCU. NetMeeting clients and Cuseeme clients can interconnect through the MeetingPoint MCU.

Apparently the 4.0 version supports H.323, interoperates with NetMeeting and can use the ILS servers. I haven't actually tried it though.

CU-seeMe is available for trial download at White Pine and may be purchased online for $69.

ICUII

I haven't actually tried ICUII ( I see you too) so I am not speaking from personal experience but I have heard good things about it so I am including it here.

It is a video phone program available as time limited demo from the ICUII and most of the large shareware listing sites. It is available for purchase online at the ICUII site for $24.95.

focusfocus

Focusfocus.com is offering an interesting web based video call program. I have a review of the system on a separate page.

Well worth a look!
